Early Lakeville town directories contain alphabetical lists of its residents, listing the heads of households, their addresses, and occupational information. Sometimes the wife’s name will be listed in parentheses following the husband’s. Some years the town directory also contained a business directory, street directory, and lists of town officers, schools, societies, churches, post offices, etc. They can be especially useful for tracing families between census years.
